A new flagship is maturing in Bavaria - with the BMW X8 (2021) comes a coupé-like version of the BMW X7. Illustrations of the luxury SUV show what the photos of a powerful prototype do not reveal: the front is dominated by a large grille, the headlights are no more than a narrow LED strip. The side line, on the other hand, is not inspired by the X6 as originally thought, but apparently by the smaller X2. The eye-catchers are undoubtedly the vertically arranged twin tailpipes, which could already adorn the entry-level model.

The dimensions, with a length of just under 5.16 metres, a width of 2.21 metres and a height of 1.81 metres, make it clear what a stately format even the somewhat more crouched super luxury SUV is likely to have. While the X7 has seven seats in the interior as standard, the X8 is likely to come with five and, in a special variant, four individual seats. The most important powerplant for the BMW X8 (2021) will be the 4.4-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine, which is well-fed with 530 hp and in the Competition variants even reaches 625 hp. In the BMW X8 M, it is also likely to deliver well over 600 hp. But a plug-in hybrid will also find its way into the huge engine compartment - as evidenced by the "Hybrid Test Vehicle" stickers on the prototype.
