In 1978, British clothing brands Chester Barry and Fred Perry simultaneously filed a lawsuit against the Bolognese designer for the use of their first and last names, respectively. Therefore, Massimo decided to change the name from Chester Perry to CP Company. This name, leaner and more mature, inaugurated one of the most explosive and influential creative moments in the history of Italian fashion and quickly transformed CP Company into the brand necessarily chosen by Italian artists and intellectuals. For more than 45 years the brand has continued to explore its particular reworking of archival military, work and sports garments, combining them with an intense search for innovation in Italian fabrics.
