Tilling the land on a sunny island is not a kind task. To do so, 19th-century countrymen invented footwear optimized for their arduous task using torn sack cloth as a breathable and cool dressing. A demonstration of Menorcan ingenuity and sustainability. Later, with the arrival of the first motorized vehicles, they discovered how to perfect their invention: the worn wheels were made of the perfect material for the peasant soles. Thanks to this rubber, their long-suffering feet were protected from rocks, grasses and sharp branches. Therefore, the combination of these elements evolved to consolidate in what we currently know as encompasses or menorquina. An artisan shoe that maintains its humble essence through design and ergonomics. Castell Menorca thus becomes a lineage of shoemakers with more than thirty years of experience. A family that, united, built an artisan workshop where its members made up for technological deficiencies by putting all their soul into cutting, sewing and assembly. And it is from its beginnings in the outskirts of a rural estate, to the numerous presence with its own stores inside and outside the island, that its passion for the Mediterranean style continues to be kept alive through an original, avant-garde, unique design shoe. A footwear that flourishes from its production centers and lives in the heart of its artisans.
