LOUIS-ULYSSE CHOPARD, THE FOUNDER Louis-Ulysse Chopard (1836-1915), son of a Sonvilier farmer, Louis-Ulysse Chopard was just 24 years old when he quickly conquered Switzerland and the world. This artisan watchmaker created works of art with an innovative design, which he soon began to export to prestigious places, such as the court of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. Already in the 19th century, qualities such as precision and reliability were highly sought after characteristics in watches.
