Greensoul

I have been working with plants and herbs since I was a child. I spent my youth on the farm in Rickenbach, near Lucerne, and was introduced to the world of herbs by a good soul, Theresi Schattauer. It was she who gave me my first herbal book "Marie Treben, Medicinal Herbs from God's Garden". This book is still with me today. When I am restless - I go to my garden. The work in nature, the earth and everything around "ground" me and let me find my balance. I am lucky enough to live and work with my family on our beautiful farm. Our family consists of me, Mägi, 45, my husband, Bruno, 45, our four children Linda, 19, Mathias, 18, Aline, 15, and David, 4. Of course, a number of animals still live on our farm: 160 milk sheep (mother animals), 270 herb fattening pigs, 3 laying hens, 4 fattening mums, 1 cat. In addition to sheep milk production and herb pork production, we also do arable farming. We grow rape and maize for fodder, spelled and wheat for flour. Around 100 standard trees (apples, pears, cherries and plums) are on our pastures. In addition to fruit production, they serve as a welcome shade in summer for our milk sheep. I am a trained administrator and do not want to swap the office with my current job. Since the birth of our third child, I haven't been working outside of our farm. In 2007 I completed my training as a foot reflexology therapist. The foot reflex zone therapy has accompanied me since my youth. It is fascinating how the individual points or zones on the foot correspond with the corresponding organs. In November 2017 I attended a seminar on trance healing. I work with great enthusiasm with this gift, which offers the possibility of holistic deep healing. I discovered soap boiling a few years ago. I think it's just great how I can determine the individual ingredients of a soap myself and, of course, how you can play with colors and scents. This creates personal, small souvenirs that can be used and, as a great side effect, care for the skin. Sewing clothes for me and the children is one of my biggest hobbies. I also love to process the vegetables and fruits from my garden into jellies, jams, syrups, canned specialties, etc., mainly for the self-sufficiency of our family. The work with effective microorganisms and the flow of permaculture aspects into my garden, terra preta (the black gold), using biochar to stop our climate change, are just some of the topics I deal with. For some time now, industrial hemp has attracted my interest. About 5 years ago I started growing industrial hemp for the first time. Unsuspecting about the enormous areas of application for hemp, I want to see what such an old useful plant looks like in nature. Depending on the variety, the plants can grow up to 4 m. Looks very impressive. A lot has happened since my first attempt. Hemp has been legally imported into Switzerland as a tobacco substitute product and a number of products such as hemp tea, hemp nuts, hemp flour, hemp oil, etc. have come onto the market. The fibers of the industrial hemp are also used in the textile industry for the production of fabric or clothing - even if only in a very small amount. Our industrial hemp knows almost no diseases. As a result, no chemicals are required in the cultivation. So it would be a great substitute for cotton, which is so susceptible to disease and for which so much chemistry and water is used. Another area of application for hemp is medicine. Research is in full swing here. Now the time has come to give my old herb witch the place she deserves in my life. I'm going on a journey that excites me a lot, that I've postponed again and again, but that also earns me a lot of respect. Respect for people and their fates, but also and last but not least, respect for the inconspicuous herbs on our doorstep. To whom we rarely give the space that they actually deserve.
