Larusmiani Porto Cervo

In 1922 in Milan, Guglielmo Miani began his business as a tailor. Creativity and determination soon allow him to emerge and be favored by artists, writers, politicians and entrepreneurs; among the many illustrious customers we remember Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Totò, Fausto Coppi, Walter Chiari, Gino Bramieri and Giuseppe Capogrossi, just to name a few. In addition to tailor-made suits, the production of raincoats started in 1936, the years in which English trench coats began to be in vogue, was fundamental for the development of the business. The company name is inspired by the raincoat: the unmistakable logo sewn on each Larusmiani garment is the seagull, from the Latin Larus, chosen for its waterproof plumage and for the values of freedom and independence it embodies. Between 1939 and 1958 Guglielmo Miani opened five Larus boutiques in the center of Milan including, in 1954, the current Concept Boutique in Via MonteNapoleone. In the 1950s, in addition to tailoring, the trade in fabrics was developed; Miani begins to import fine fabrics from England and is the first to import the famous Vicuña, the most precious fiber in the world, into Italy. In 1973 Riccardo Miani, son of Guglielmo, becomes CEO of the company which changes its name to Larusmiani. Riccardo manages to reconcile the industrial aspect, making the Brand leader in the world market of high-end fabric producers, with the tailoring one, creating collections of handmade fabrics in Italy, more innovative than traditional English fabrics, able to respond to needs of Italian and French stylists: Larusmiani currently produces and distributes over two million meters of fabric per year worldwide. At the end of the 1980s a new operational headquarters were built in a modern structure. In 2000 Guglielmo Miani, son of Riccardo Miani, began to deal with the fabrics division, acquiring specific know-how and in 2006 he became CEO of Larusmiani and President in 2011; same creative and entrepreneurial spirit of his grandfather, Guglielmo immediately identified the potential of the clothing division. In 2010, he inaugurated the new Concept Boutique designed with four hands, by the famous architect David Collins in the historic shop in Via MonteNapoleone and the first women's collection was launched. In 2012 we celebrate ninety years of activity looking at the success of three generations who have alternated at the helm of a company that is a symbol of Made in Italy and a future to protect the artisan tradition and always looking for new contemporaneity.
