For 40 years, Bokhandeln Näckrosen has mediated Western Esotericism and Eastern Mysticism. The water lily and the lotus flower have for long periods and in many parts of the world been a central symbol of spirituality, whether it is Egypt's blue lotus flower, India's rosy aquatic plant, or the white water lily in the Nordic countries. The lotus flower, which is rooted in a dune, but which rises pure from it and opens to the sky, is a picture of pure striving. It is therefore very fitting to let this flower represent a spiritual watering hole, which has always strived to maintain a balance between the Western and the Eastern. At the end of the 70's, Gunnel Eckerstein took over the Näckrosen store on Haga Nygata in Gothenburg, which sold spiritual literature to thirsty souls. Over the years, there have been a couple of changes of ownership, and also a change of premises. Today, Näckrosen Bokhandel, which is now located at Storgatan 10 in Gothenburg, is perhaps the Nordic region's most well-stocked bookstore of books that touch on philosophy, psychology, religion, mythology, personal development and health. The store has a large assortment of books on Egyptology, Antiquity, Natural Peoples, Indians, Celts, Druids, Tibet, Indian Philosophy, Buddhism. Zen, Taoism, Confucius, Kabbalah, Tarot, Hermetism, Astrology, Magic, Occultism, Meditation, Yoga, Alternative Medicine, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Healing, Diet, Cuisine, Herbs, Personal Development, Feng Shui, Parapsychology, Reincarnation, UFO, Alternative History. But the store is not only a point of sale, it is also a meeting place and a forum for applicants. It has an alternative bulletin board for individuals and associations that operate in spiritual traditions and wellness etc.
