Shady and the Lamp

Founded by Sarah O’Dea in 2012, Shady and the Lamp produces bold and beautifully crafted lamps, handmade in Ireland using techniques unchanged for generations. Following a background in Interior Styling, Sarah trained under two of the U.K’s Master Lampshade Makers, expanding her knowledge and expertise into this field of interiors and with a focus on distinctive lighting, Shady and the Lamp was born. Using traditional form and practice we give eclectic lampshade frames an off-beat edge by combining trend-driven fabrics and directional design. Silk, Velvet, Irish Linen, Tweed and Cotton are sewn or backed onto brazed frames which are bound, drafted, and lined, all by hand in our Dublin based studio.
