The Tchibo success story began in 1949 with the idea of Hamburg merchant Max Hertz to mail coffee in practical coffee cans or tea towels. The first Tchibo branch opened in Hamburg in 1955 and the first Austrian branch opened in Vienna in 1969. Now there are more than 1000 of them all over the world.
