Its founder Mr. Tschin-Ta-Ni moved to Geneva around the year 1870, at the invitation of the famous sinologist Auguste-François Turrettini, who, having met him in Paris, called on his experience and his talent to set up a Chinese printing press in Geneva. A few years later, that is to say exactly in 1875, Mr. Tschin-Ta-Ni decided, with his entrepreneurial spirit, to embark on the tea trade by creating his famous tea shop at n ° 9 of the Place du Bourg de Fourg. The extraordinary story of this great adventurer and precursor is told by Pastor Alain Perrot in his book: François Turrettini “the Chinese” Tschin-Ta-Ni the “Genevois”. After his disappearance in China in 1915, where he had decided to return to end his days, his wife succeeded him in the management of the store. The case was however taken up after a few months by Mr. Alfred Junod, godson of Mr. Tschin-Ta-Ni. The Company passed in 1964 to the Hurter family who, while keeping the famous recipes of Mr. Tschin-Ta-Ni, made every effort to adapt to the tastes of its customers. She now offers him more than 120 famous tea blends. The main store is currently located at rue Verdaine n ° 5. In addition to its teas, the Tschin-Ta-Ni house offers its customers a whole assortment of porcelain and other articles relating to tea or Asian culture.
