The British Place to Be: at the same time grocery store, stationery-gifts, offering a unique children's section, WHSmith Paris is a bookstore like no other. Next to palaces, museums and big names in fashion, facing the Tuileries Garden and adjoining Place de la Concorde, this historic boutique in the 1st arrondissement has been welcoming Anglo-Saxon expatriates and lovers of the English language since 1870. Bought by Smith in 1903, with its coats of arms, moldings and stained glass from the staircase leading to the 1st floor, it immerses you in the English world of the turn of the century. In the Tea Room located above the bookstore, original plasterwork and woodwork showcase the symbols of England and France, between lilies and Tudor roses.
