WMF

In 1853 the metal goods factory Straub & Schweizer was founded in Geislingen (Steige), which was merged with the metal goods factory A. Ritter & Co, Esslingen in 1880 and converted into a stock corporation under the name Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik. As early as 1910, WMF was considered the largest industrial company in Württemberg with around 4,000 employees at the time.
